Why The Majority Of Musicians Never Make It In The Music Industry

Tons of musicians wish they could be successful in the music industry, but only a few of them have the guts to actually do it. The rest quit too soon and end up working 40 hours per week at a day job they hate.

The following are three reasons why so many musicians struggle to make it in the music business and what you should do instead in order to succeed:

Reason #1: Having A Poor Mindset

Most musicians don’t have the mindset required to become successful. They:

*Feel entitled to success and opportunities.

*Think that record companies (and businesses) are evil and take advantage of musicians.

*Blame other people or circumstances for their own failures.

These mindsets make failure inevitable. Successful musicians understand the importance their mindset has on their careers.

Action step for you: take action daily to strengthen and develop your mindset by: being around success-minded people and studying proven resources about success and achievement.

Reason #2: Not Having The Time, Money Or Resources To Grow A Career

It takes money, time and freedom to get anything done in the music industry. Most musicians lack either money or time (or both). Some have lots of free time but no money. Others do well financially but are a slave to their day job. This makes it impossible to be involved in ambitious projects, such as touring or making a record.

Here’s the action to take: find out how to earn money from many different sources in a passive manner. This musical income needs to be:

*Congruent with your ultimate goals in the music industry. So all the time and effort you put into it goes towards your future and is not just spent working at a meaningless job.

*Passive and residual for the most part, so you can do all the work ahead of time and reap the rewards later (without having to continually spend your time working to make money with the same product/idea).

Finding a music career mentor is instrumental in learning how to create multiple streams of passive income.

Reason #3: Doing Things In The Wrong Order

Succeeding in your music career means doing the correct things in the correct order, in the correct way. The correct order to do things is different for you and your specific music career goals than it is for someone else.

Even if you take the correct steps… doing them in the wrong order is very destructive for your music career(just as much as doing the incorrect steps to begin with).

This column helps you grow a successful music career so you can become a pro in this business.
